How to Win at College

This was mainly about what we did in class on our poster in what were the things that freshman at college needs to know. All of it was pretty true but it was all opinionated so some people may feel things work better for who they are instead of the way they said.It talked about decorating your room with personal things, how to schedule free time instead of taking break whenever you feel like it, and that mostly you should eat alone because it saves precious time that you could be studying and then definitely get together for a least one meal. The other topics were about not studying in your room because of distractions, don't study in groups also because of distractions, signing up for activities and not being a hermit, and then the last thing was about keeping in touch with friends from home because they're closer than the ones you have at school. I think that as I read this I noticed that I follow a lot of these things except for the studying in the library. And with saying that, the reading is true because the reason I don't go to the library is because of convenience but also because I tend to be more distracted in the library people watching than in my room. Another thing is that I don't live in a dorm room and I have my own room so it's easier to focus. Like I said before this article is someones opinion so things could be different for others.

Navigating Your Freshman Year

The reading was interesting and had some different views on things but there were some that I agreed with. Again it was about the "dos and don'ts" of freshman year. It talk about the it's a new environment and something that everyone needs to get used to even your family back home and also it said about experiencing everything there is to offer. I totally agree with this everything is new to you so give it some time and try find things you would enjoy. Another thing was like in the first reading they said about don't forget your friends at home because they will be the ones there for you when you feel lonely you can call them. Also it was mentioned about having a roommate that you don't know, but it's ok to not be best friends with them but at least have common grounds so that living with that person a whole year won't be miserable. Going along with that, make sure that at the beginning of the year you talk to your roommate about studying habits, times you go to sleep, times when your going to have guests, etc. I agree with basically everything in this reading, and that it was good topics to talk about.
